Latest sculpture workshop results.

Had another workshop weekend just gone.
Two retired engineers, she built submarines and I think he built power stations, also a friend of theirs who is a high level industrial chemist.
We met up a last year and talked about the idea of them having a weekend of sculpture making.
I realised that they are used to precision and method. so I asked 'are you effectively wanting me to show you how to work badly'
using expressions like straight enough and about the right length etc. made them both laugh and they agreed with me.
We had two days, half the first day was getting to know the tools, plasma cutter, welder etc, then we got going. Results below.
Cheryl made a Cheradactyl out of my boxes of 'stuff'

Then we had a flower based on the weird fleshy tropical ones.

And a Sycamore seed that balances on a pin head

And another plant

Some very good stuff and a few ideas that may well set me off on one.

Very much doubt it - it looks like one of those very heavy spheres you get from the likes of F J Brindleys!

The ball is hollow so not to heavy.
Will it spin? probably fall off. We shall see.

What are the flowers stems made out of? Brazing rods? ???

The sycamore seed really speaks to their engineering background, making something organic that is perfectly balanced.

The penny petal flower is cool too.

love the Cheradactyl too after seeing chunks calf i feel inspired to do a large sculpture like saber toothed tiger or sum dinosaur maybe a velociraptor , by the way chunk how did the calf do is it finished yet?

Calf is finished and galvanized, the mother of the guy it is made for has asked me not to make it oublic until after his memorial service in June.
Looks good though.
