lathe and stuff

Well i have just manage to bag myself a colchester bantam lathe, pillar drill, anvil and shear from a school that had a new building built with new machinery, had to do a fair bit of moving around to make space for it all..

i havent used a lathe in about 20 years so going to be a bit of a learning curve i guess so any hits and tip are welcomed..

here it is and some of my other toys i get to play with daily..

My best guess is the red bar which i assume is a saftey cut out bar not got it all conected yet

The bar work in to ways, electrical and a shoe brake on the pulley.

The electric brake on option on a VFD can stop a motor far faster and with less damage

yes I got one of my colchester and its stops dead when you tread on it!

The Bantam is a good solid lathe
Yours looks like the 2 speed version as well
