Lathe turning using a Mill

So I thought I would try it.
I thought to turn out another adaptor for converting a BT holder to ISO. This time using a lathe tool in a vice, with the job held in a Clarkson chuck.

Result! well happy with the finish.

You've got it all wrong, you're supposed to mill in a lathe

Now, why would I like to do a silly thing like that?

I done it too a few years back just to see if i could do it. Works ok.

I have done it to true up a spindle after modification.

I've done something similar with my horizontal mill. Basically fitted an int40 to my ford spindle nose adapter, and then fitted a myford face plate to that.

Works ok, and gives massive swing if required (though not for very long objects).

Once my car is nearing completion, I plan on skimming my brake disks with it.

I think I'd be wanting to see a bit more of the tool shank between the vice jaws, just in case...

Ye, a new set of vice jaws for that specific purpose wouldn't go amiss.

Another turning job for the mill...

Tightened up on a screw as a temporary means to hold in a collet.
Turned a spigot to allow proper holding in a collet.


Found a way of making a parting-off tool for the grooves.
Cut from a TCT blade. Looks like I have some spares too


Parting off finish is as smooth as a smooth thing, well impressed.
Lastly, pressed in a couple of bushes I found in my 'box of useless bits'
