Lazy way to clean Aluminium brake calipers?

have a few caliper sets to clean up - they are pretty decent alloy but some are a bit pitted and discoloured. Is there a quick and easy way to clean them up? something like a big bucket of solution - boil them up with rhubarb leaves or cooking apples?
Dont have access to media blasting and not wanting to go through too many tins of brake cleaner or use anything that may eat the bores

any ideas?

Get them soda blasted, cheap as chips

or if you have a compressor make up a soda blaster of your own, just google it looks like you can do it for basically nothing, im gonna have a go when i get the time

I agree soda blasting is the way to go, it doesnt harm cables or rubber and if it is used on a steel surface and not washed off, the surface of the metal will not rust. You do need to wash it off....... if and when you want to paint it, it leaves a fine layer of soda over the metal which stop moisture reacting with it and stops it rusting

That's give me some inspiration. Got a pressure pot never ever used and been outside the last 8 years, sure I can conjure up something.
