lcd screen mount strips - electronics experts needed..

Been tasked with repairing a dead display / control panel, 4 small lcd displays, powered by two AA batteries. Totally dead before, found the reason for that, bad battery mounts in the battery case, cleaned / resoldered them, and fixed that, and two out of the four screens powered up no problem. Tested them all the switches function etc, but two of the screens were still out. Opened up the case, and found that someone else had been in before me by the half knackered screws. Looks like they've dislodged the screens, as they've come off the rubber mounts "strips" / "rails" as soon as I opened it. Don't know if this is possible to "reglue" them with some kind of conductive glue or something? anyone got any ideas, or is it for the scrap?
Second question is how critical is the alignment, or are the strips contacts generously spaced that there's no issue for being spot on with the alignment or is it critical?.. can't see it being that precise as the conductive parts look really thin in teh strips, and the contacts on the board seem about 1mm apart..?? not come across this type of thing before, so not sure how to proceed, so as usual back to the collective expertise on here....

They're called "zebra strips", clean them, the LCDs and the board with IPA and they should be okay. Alignment of the strip isn't massively critical as long as the LCD is positioned over the board correctly. As far as I know, they're not usually glued, they just kind of stick, but they need some mounting pressure, the enclosure should press the glass against the strip against the board, obviously knackered or missing screws won't help that.

ah ok, just did a wee search on zebra strip, ok, see what you mean... ok will have a bash at that, will have to search out some IPA, don't know if I have any, have plenty of alcohol, but probably not really suitable for cleaning... hahaah...

Have used Absolute or Vodka at a pinch on a cotton bud as @Maker said they need pressure to connect.
DO not use any glue will end in tears

and the results are in, despite a slow start waiting for the IPA, the screen crossed the finishing line this evening with all four screens working ... only took minutes to do, and sorted... nice one @Maker exactly that...

Edges of the upper screens are a little blackened, but they work fine, don't know if it's possible to remove it, although it's probably best to leave it now it's working...

had to order the IPA in, none of the local places had anything "pure" only diluted / perfumed stuff for cleaning etc...

Nice job. If there's a screw between those top two displays you might get rid of the black corners by loosening it half a turn, it may well be permanent though.

IPA is useful to have around, can't really beat it for cleaning electronics and removing permanent marker, plus it won't damage plastics like acetone will.

aye there is a screw between them, so have loosed it half a turn, no immediate change, so may well be permanent.... will see, either way, sure they'll be happy to have the screen back, off a rowing machine..... not the sort of job, I'll retire on, but only took about 15 minutes in total, so no big chew.. Reckon I paid more for the litre of IPA than I'll make on it, but the sort of daft wee job that might bring in more work later he says hopefully..... handy to have the IPA now, 99.9%..
