leaky hand hydraulic pump on trailer rebuild or replace?

I have been asked to look at a tilt bed trailer hand pump that has got very messy and reluctant to pump

it looks like a rebuild kit is available but it is perhaps half the price of a different make of an alternative new pump, the miser in me says rebuild but my head says replace. Any opinions/experience of Lodematic or GL pumps

this is the original which apparently is old but hasn't seen much action and I could get a brand new one of these but it is almost twice the cost of the GL unit

lot of HVGs have tilk cabs pump of one of them should work for that @8ob comes to mind for that

i'd be stripping that bare before ordering anything new or replacing. could just be some basic orings. (my glass is half full today!)

Most parts are interchangeable.
O rings are a standard size etc.

Wash it off and clean the out side. That way you can see what and were it is leaking from.

Then you can work out what you need and were to order it from.

I’ve got the same pump on mine. It leaks if I leave the valve open, so I keep the valve closed. It also weeps when in use but I had a look at taking it apart then thought why bother. If it gets really bad I might look at repairing but it gets used so infrequently it isn’t worth my time at the moment! Be interesting to see it in bits if you do decide to rebuild

all u need is a bottle of auto gearbox leak stopper.....Wynns, STP etc....
I use it every once in a while on stuff for repair....
drain some of the oil out and put in some stop leak..use it a few time and presto....
have a 25ton Tangye ally jack on my press, it started to leak after a few years.....
used the above and still no leaks after10 years....
