Leaving media in blast pot

I know I've read many places to empty the blasting pot when its not used. To keep the moist from ruin the media.

Do you always empty it?

I build my own pot and haven't had i mind that it needs to get the grit out when not used. :-(
Should i get some sort of quick release on the mixer?

I leave mine in, but I do use it on a daily basis. I do, however, use my syphon gun to go over the bits I missed the first time so I just pop the suction tube into the pot and that empties most of what's left.

If you want to empty it just remove the nozzle, open the bottom valve fully, close the bypass valve and open the main valve about half way - that shifts it. Shake the pot from time to time.

if its settled for a while just tip the pot upside down then back again and it loosens it up

While your here, i want to ask you about my blasting setup:
I run a 40cfm hydrovane into a dryer, then to a 1000liter tank ( i know the tank doesn't help) then through a 1"
pipe to a metal workz 1" water separator mounted on a home made 100liter blasting pot. The pipeline around the pot is 1/2" (because the threads on ends of the tank was 1/2). then to a Homemade tungsten k44 4mm nozzle

I just started blasting today, works very well

half inch bore pipe is fine its good for 90 cfm with a 6mm nozzle

Do you use some kind of special blast hose?

What is the best way to shut the air off, a valve in the end at the hose ( i know it will wear out)

yea its thickwall blast hose half inch bore .the pot is just worked from the shut off ball valve next to water seperator . u can just push your blast nozzle in to the hose and secure with jubily clip if u can get it to fit

I have a ball valve similar on my pot. I just find annoying that i have to wait for the pressure to get of the pot.

The nozzle size is not problem, i can grind one that fits.
