Hi guys, does anyone have any recommendations/supplier for the correct lenses for gas welding aluminium. The problem seems to be that the flare from the flux can cause eye damage.
Doubtful that the flare will cause eye damage, possibly a bit of temporary eye strain if welding for long periods, I never felt the need for special lenses but If you feel that you need them they are marked GWF (Gas Welding with Flux).
Google will find them for you. Bocal ones are quite good, I like the old fashioned ones with the separate round replaceable lenses, they do make you look like the crazy frog though..
the glare from the weld due to the flux is reduced with the correct lenses.I've some blue lens glasses but due to having bifocals they are not easy to use, so I revert to my full shield green welding face mask. I've learnt to live with the flare.
