Lidl Ceramic Egg Barbeque

Just got one of these in NI, £89.99



It's about 25kg weight. Seems amazing value!

I have used a "Green Egg" Barbeque before on holiday they are a great job.

I think from looking up reviews these Lidl ones could do with a deflector plate inside



Seems dear for what it is but I don't have any 3mm stainless knocking around either

Anyone used one of these types of barbecues?

Looking forward to putting it to some use in the coming weeks. I'm not overly experienced in Barbeque cooking but hoping to work on that!

Does the heat plate have to be stainless? I have some 2.5mm mild steel

I always made my own BBQ's

But wifey bought a Weber bbq for a camping trip with the grandchildren. Based on the fact "everything I make is too heavy"...

It makes quick work of burgers, very nice



I found another eBay seller supplying the heat deflector plates for these for £15.95 delivered so went with that.

It'll take me a while to learn how to get the most out of this barbeque, looking forward to it! Hickory smoke chips also on their way.

Have the larger one myself, definitely get a deflector makes them much more versatile for slow cooks etc

Junior's just bought a dual fuel job but not a side by side effort. Instead it has the gas bars as normal and a tray which slides in on top that holds the coals. Ready to cook on charcoal in less than 10mins and authentic barbecue taste. Not seen them before but this one works brilliantly.

Lot of stuff on the UK Woodsmoke forum about these, and about deflector plates (and for the full size Aldi version), but searching there is hard work

I've got one of these, a charbroil gas2coal. Use it on either gas or charcoal, or both. Lights the charcoal in no time using the gas burners then switch off and cook. If your coals are running out of heat you can finish off with gas.
I'm not a fan of gas bbqs but this is good.

Got a new cheap heat deflector plate from ebay and there is a beef brisket in it as I type!

The heat deflector does appear to make all the difference in terms of the ability to smoke something and not cook it too quickly. These barbecues should really come with the plates!
