Lister engine run water pump

We have this at work engine runs but no flow of water any ideas people please I wound be able to try any thing until next week but want ideas to go through
The pipe attached has a filter and mesh on the end so blocked pipe or matter in the pump side I'd dought but up for any thing


Only thing I can guess at is there is a leak in the water system but I don't know what the levers etc do it was working well one day wen to start a day after engines runs but no water flow

They usually need priming…,( the pump side that is…) check filter for blockage..
Is there an instruction plate on there?

If it's not self priming then it'll need filling with water before it'll pump. If the bottom non return valve fails it can't be primed or will lose its prime.

There is a data plate, which says 'Univac'. This is a Sykes brand and they claim (https://www.andrews-sykes.com/pump-hire/general-purpose-pumps/gp150m-pump/) "the unique Sykes Univac vacuum system which enables priming and re-priming fully automatically from dry".

Hence, the priming suggestions might be misleading in this specific case.

it was always self priming i belive start the unit throw the pipe in the water water came out other side

not that i seen only running the engine instructions

theres not a filling hole like the small honda engine we had i used to use that myself and was now and again a pig to get goiing

thank you for this will give us a start point any more vids on cheaking what we need to would be good as its easy to read instructions but easyer to just do what someone is showing you

I remember one on a fish farm that had a lot of heads scratching because it wouldn't pump water. Eventually someone redid the gland packing on the pump input shaft and that sorted it, it pumped well after that.

I liked the ameripumps one above as it shows a cut away and how the pump works internally, including the back flush. From that, it might be something as simple as the float in the priming system stuck closed or the backflush lever not shut. Put a sheet of paper over the inlet flange on the pump body and see if there is any initial suction. Check for leaks or hose splits in the initial vacuum-forming part, including the main suction hose itself.

In this case, perhaps putting the inlet pipe up above the pump and filling it with water until it comes out the outlet (i.e. manual priming) might unstick its internals if they are temporarily confused.

I would check things like the engine to pump drive coupling, quite often sheer pins and the like are used to stop pump damage if they ingest debris.

im hoping its somthing a bit more simple than that but start im assuming at the easy stuff first ?

i dont even know where to start there is somthing that comes up offten stuck valves but if i take things aprt on these do i have to replace gaskets ?
