Little Storage solution!!

Well been on this forum a while so i thought i'd throw up a little project thread of what i made today!I'm only learning when it comes to mig so any chance for a bit of practice! feel free to criticise or give opinions on my work! And please point out where or what i'm doing wrong! i bought a creeper for working underneath my car and i came up with a storage solution for it in my shed!!
I was just going to bang in two nails and hang it off that but wheres the fun in that! had a quick look around what i had in the shed and came up with a little idea!!
Heres the creeper;

After a little bit of cutting and a little bit of drilling;

Then welded it all together!

And a view from the other side!!

On the last photo you can see there was alot of spatter that i had to grind off even though i did use an anti spatter spray!!
What causes the spatter or what am i doing wrong?
So that was my few hours or work today!!

Looks good! Are you using No gas or gas?

its a clarke 151te with co2 gas!

Hmmm There is quite a lot of splatter, especially for gas.

did u clean the metal before welding?? i had this happen when i started and it turned out to be something on the metal. just cleaned back with an angle grinder lightly did the trick

yeah i cleaned it all with a flapper disc!

There's one of yer problems.
CO2 is notoriously bad for producing spatter, argon/co2 mix tends to give a cleaner weld.
That fillet in the last picture looks like you had the wire speed/voltage settings wrong and were in globular transfer mode which causes horrendous spatter.
I'd look at a different brand of anti-spatter too, normally it just brushes off.

Spatter also sticks easier to steel that has been cleaned with a grinding disc/flap disc. Tends to bounce of millscale a bit easier.

CO2 can be near spatter free. I used it on mine with no problems.

looks like you had the wire speed too high.

You can see my anti spatter in the first pic the black sip aerosol can! i'll try another one!
Ok so i'll try on a scrap piece tomorrow with a lower wire speed!!

R33 or r32? both beautiful cars! driven an r32 gtst before alot of fun! love the 6cylinder engines!
Mine is off the road since march bit of work to be done on the underside with rust!

ah just a 33,if ya need a hand gime a shout sure(not that im much good at anything really)just as well the cars off the road,the salt has everything destroyed!

I agree looks like too much wire, try again with less on your next job, also check your earth clamp and clean it up if req, and check your gas pressure I find I only need 5 psi or so.

Cheers mate! in regards to the gas i only have the cheap regulator that came with the welder and its just marked 0 to 6, is that in psi???
