Just registered to say hello.
I'm sure i'll be picking your collective brains when my mig turns up and I can start learning.

Building myself a bike engined kit car and need to weld in a crossbrace and some brackets in the engine bay to take an engine cradle.
Might try my hand at making an exhaut manifold for it too

With a welder and a few other bits of kit, making an exhaust manifold should be no trouble, and welcome to the forum.

Just noticed pezza your probaly about 2mins away from me where you live, actually you live in the same town as me, so if things go pear shaped big time, help isnt that far away

Well my auto dimming helmet turned up today, so proceed to play in the sun with it

Just waiting on the welder which should be with me by the end of the week.
Can't wait to get practicing

Auto darkening makes a massive amount of difference, it allows you to see where your about to arc up, and goes dark so you can still see when welding. What welder are you getting?

130 amp clark jobby, can't remember the exact model. Should be powerful enough for what I need

After being messed around by a local place that has been promising us the welder would be in every day for the last week and a half nipped up to machine mart in croyden and picked this up

Had a good practice, managed some reasonable quality welds, butt welding and spot welding bits in place. Got good penetration

Bit more practice when I pick up some more bits of scrap and I can get the engine cradle welded in my chassis

Who were you going to have got it off locally?

Think it was powertools and fixings or some such, my dad was doing the price wrangling etc trying to blag a discount via his business lol
