Long arm torch burner

I'm looking at laying down some of those thermoplastic car park lines in my parking space, plus about 6 neighbours, the seller says to only use a long arm burner with propane. I don't have the torch or any propane, but I have a couple of half empty calor butane bottles, about 2 foot tall. So question is, are the fittings on the bottles the same for butane and propane, and will the same torch burn both gases with the same heat?

No fittings are completely different

you will struggle to use butane in cold weather, due to its low pressure. for industrial processes, propane will normally be used at higher pressures than butane, but that will all depend on the regulator used

Yeah I see normal regulators are 37mbar for propane and 28mbar for butane, did think about just putting thr torch hose onto the butane regulator, but will just get a propane tank. Now to find somewhere that will sell me a bottle without having an empty one to return

you can hire both a torch and bottle of gas from the tool hire shop

otherwise its 30.00+ for the gun regulator and everything included but you need to remember you want a high flow regulator

Yeah I see normal regulators are 37mbar for propane and 28mbar for butane,

low pressure is for for things like BBQ's, for industrial type burners/blowtorches, they may need regulators between 0.5 bar and 2 bar. check before you buy the wrong tegulator etc

we can buy both the torch and regulator as we dont have the regulators fitted onto the bottle



our regulator is more red and domed in shape

We use ours straight off the bottle, no regulator.

we can run burners straight off the propane cylinder too (not sure if the regulations would ban it though), but with a regulator you get more consistent pressure which will otherwise vary with ambient temperature and gas consumption. also the regulator allows you to run 4 bar when at ambient temperature without a regulator it may be 10 bar, so its also easier on the hoses too.

The adjusting needle valve works very well.
I've never had a problem with the operation of it.
