Lorch T220 watercooler

Hello,

I bought a Lorch cooler ages ago but have never used it.

I need to know what to order to get the smallest possible torch for the machine.

I was going to order a 25 foot WP20 torch with flexi head, but what I don't know is the size/style of the connectors on the Lorch water cooler?

I'll miss having the buttons on the torch, but need something a little smaller.

Any help appreciated.

Also if anybody knows a good supplier that can make me one up that'd be great.

The Cooler has the standard female quick fit push in fittings in red and blue for the water.

Lorch do a WP 20 Type with the UD function. Downside is its not in a Flexi neck and although the neck is WP 20 size the handle is not like a pencil tube size. There should be some pictures on the Lorch website. Its called a LTW 3000 UD

I couldn't find it on there site, I might just get a "normal" torch. Is the up down button just a couple of push to make buttons? Or is it more complex than that? I was thinking I could wire a button or 2 a little bit further down, i.e. on the lead or something.

Also is there soemthing I have to do to make the watercooler work, I know it doesn't when the standard Binzel torch is plugged in.

Are the push fits 3/8th's?

The machine tells the cooler when to work. Have you connected the purple Lorch net cable at the back? I'll get you a schematic for the torch wiring. I'm sure you could cobble some sort of up down thing yourself. Send me a email to my @lorch account.

I also had a flexi head wp20 made up but haven't had the need to use it yet...the bottom pic shows it and the fittings that connect to the cooler.

The top is what I have, the bottom is what I want, although I don't require the button or bigger torch body as I use a pedal all the time.

Have you got a brand of torch in mind? Some are available in various configurations i.e. you should be able to order it to 'plug 'n play'. If you wanted say a 25ft/8m CK20 flex head (CK-2025SFFX) which are advertised as coming with 3/8bsp fittings then (unless rapidwelding will make it up for you) you'll need a dinse adaptor and some q/r fittings like in Wyn's pic... these i believe, Binzel part # 501.0114

As you mentioned smallest possible torch i'll leave this here... http://www.treatrade.hr/pdf/ABinzel/TIG/SR/SR24WENGL.pdf. It's not even close to the smallest but the head will get into places that a wp20 style won't and isn't scary expensive like most of the proper micro torches. The CK version is rated to 180A AC and on special offer at the moment. Not something i'd want to use as a regular torch though because they're bit of a ball ache with regards to tungsten prep
