LVLP spray gun

The compressor I use is not powerful enough to meet the requirement you see for a HVLP. The appolo set up I borrowed from a friend has an underslung paint pot that needs quite a bit of paint in it. So when I found a gravity feed LVLP touch up gun for about £10 at a car show I bought it.

I have been very pleased with the results from the LVLP gun. It gives a better result than the appollo. However, as a touch up gun it only has a small paint capacity. So I was very interested when I came across the Kestrel LVLP 2004 spray gun set on Paint4U. http://www.paints4u.com/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=5864&Mainselection=17

It seems to be the answer as I understand it has a 600cc paint pot. However, at £81 I don't want to make a mistake.

Does anyone have experiance of this gun or Kestrel guns in general?

spray guns are kind of like welders you get what you pay for, you wont get a perfect finish from the gun. But then you wont want to spend £400 on a satajet gun either. But having said that you should achieve a good finish

10cfm is quite high air req's. I thought my comp wa about on the limit for single-phase, at 14cfm displacement/9.5 FAD.

Conventional guns need less air, and there's suction and gravity ones around no probs.

You can pick up s/h quality guns and sort them out, like my Devilbiss JGA was less than £50 sorted with a few parts bought cheap. Another Devilbiss was a fiver. The JGA is the dogs. It's suction, but can always tip leftovers into a small gravity gun to use it up. Had to wait and watch for bargains as some parts can be lots of £s new.

I can see where Chipper is coming from here. To my mind 10cfm is not low volume, its firmly in HVLP territory.
Just my opinion mind as I am by no means an expert!
