M252 pro torch.

Does anybody know if the M252 control pro will operate with the Powermaster torch that adjusts the welding power from the torch.

as far as i know it doesn't, but i haven't looked in to it much.

had a look in the Lorch book Quality pdf (download from lorch site) it seems to me that it's the bigger units that use the powermaster torch, the C, P and S series.

nice machine and good service from Lorch, even if my replacement is still lost somewhere in belgium... haha

Out of the M-Pro range the PowerMaster torch only works with the Performance front panel. Unfortunately the performance front panel is only an option on the 3ph machines

i think the performance panel would be a big seller if you did it in single phase

Trouble is the 252 is only for the UK so it's a limited market sales wise.

Yes Gordan, it is possible for a Lorch service centre to update the software in the M-Pro range.

why is the 252 uk only? is 210 really the biggest welder they can run on single phase in the rest of europe? or is 3phase just more common everywhere else?

There is separate rules in eu limiting the max single phase current to 16A

ahh, i'd like 3phase but unfortunately i'm over a mile from a town, so i reckon it'd be very expensive!

Probity might be worth an ask if there in a nice mood it can be cheap especially if you plan to get a fair bit of kit

yeah, when the new workshop is built i may see what it costs, i'd like a colchester triumph lathe and a bridgeport mill, but i think it'd be a bit over the limit trying to run a triumph on single phase.. as well as the house supply and what ever other workshop gear is running.

As MK already said regarding the max draw on 230v in Mainland Europe. 400v seems a lot more accessible in the home aswell, a lot of my colleagues from Lorch all have a 3ph in their garage
