The little label thingys you find on engines and machines etc.
Where can I get some from? does anybody here make them?
Pretty much every year I do a good sized job for a large fashion label. They pay well and we have a great working relationship.
A bit late in the day in thought 'Put a discrete sticker' on my work for them in fact on everything I make.
Then I saw the plate on a mates lathe and thought thats much more in keeping and looks professional. I have messaged my customer and asked how they feel about it; I'm sure they will say yes. I may even get some made up to put on other work anyway.
I dont want to pay very much. I dont need much on it really just the name of my website www.artinsteel.co.uk contact details are easy to find, ah! and maybe my name.
Ive looked on line and some seem very pricey and way too big. Ive seen these on Etsy not quite what I have in mind but an ok price https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1131802836/personalised-plate-63x16mm-engraved?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=brass+plaque&ref=sr_gallery-2-19&sts=1&local_signal_search=1&content_source=e557796410a320aca8e961cc5d12e5cd8d2ffd36%3A1131802836&search_preloaded_img=1&organic_search_click=1
I am ashamed that its taken me 18 years to even have this idea. Hopeless.
Im thinking something to sell myself discretely on bigger budget works; especially in the commercial and public sectors.
Heres a dry run of part of the current job.
They have seen a piece by some one called Krazy Horse Kustoms. I hear they have modified a few bikes or something like that.
So a set of airfix kit frames made out of the shiny bits of motor bikes four from each bike. Ropey old Suzuki Intruders is what they sent me, I think tradeins not worth putting on the road.
This is the first dry run just waiting on approval. We have discussed weight and so on their guys are doing the installation.
next stage is to weld and bolt in 'sprues' to make the airfix kit effect. Looks like it works to me.
I decided to use these joints to get consistency across the collection. I may black lacquer the galved fittings.
Engine in bits and lightened
Ignore the crappy barrels they were a test. 9" Grinder did a lovely job. As did the dish washer Cheers for support on that one
