We've had a pack kicking around at work forever and they brazed no diferent to the tig rods, tigged no different either.
We have about 24 pots of Magna flux too. Seems they had to import it from Oz and that's how the pack came.
After googling it i ended up thinking the same thing as Al. Their entire site is full of 'snake oil' like descriptions... along with the 'superior alloy for aluminium' there's a
super corrosion resistant stainless rod that'll outlast ordinary stainless many times over
Thanks for the info .I think i'll give it a miss as im not paying £80 out to try it. I'll stick to my sif rods. Ive tried many of these lower melting point rods & found only one that was useable
Was it SIF no 16 you use? If so that's their in house name for 4047 which also exists as a flux cored wire but i think the only SIF flux cored flavour available is 4043.
The low melting point stuff that doesn't need a flux are soldering wires strictly speaking, these are the ones that are usually hyped up to be wonder rod. Some/most of the major consumable brands have one (SIF 555 Al solder for example)
Yes number 16 rods. Nice to use once its upto temp. All the stuff i braze is preheated in a oven at 750 to make life easier. I agree most of these wonder rods are not worth bothering with.
