How the hell are they thinking here???

The black parts work as a latch and the idea is to lift the saw at the other end and then lift it off the stand. How is that supposed to work when the latches end up in the opposite ends???

It's either me or the one who packed the parts or the designer that is stupid...

Bit odd. Guess the manual shows them that way. Having the handle under the saw would be a pita.

Yeah, manual shows the both handles on the outside as it should be.
Sent same pictures to Makita, unless they say I've got the wrong parts I'll drill and tap new holes to move one of the latch parts. Improvise, adapt, overcome

If you look at the online exploded parts diagram (https://cdn.makitatools.com/apps/cm...d965bdd138_WST06_PB_Breakdown_WST06_02-18.pdf) it shows 2-off of the same part reversed, so you are stuck.

At the moment, one locks to the back rail and one to the front. If you change it around to both locking on the front rail, any weight you put on the front of the saw will try to pivot it about the clamps and lift the whole lot off the back rail. Possibly if you change it to both rear-locking, it would be OK.

Got answer from Makita saying it's supposed to be that way. They said to lift one side, twist and lift other side. Well, you better not to be in a hurry then. Takes several attempts, putting strain on the parts and easy to pinch fingers and no good balance once getting loose.

I removed the front latch then it works as I want it to.
With the saw positioned as far against me as it can the balance is good and it won't tip when releasing the locks on both sides.

I'm using a evolution stand. Been bomb proof and small enough to stay in the van all the time.

Left my dewalt stand in a garage on Jersey never used it and forgot all about it
