Mangle=Slip rolls

My neighbour has just dug out an old mangle. Haven had a proper look yet, but my immeadiate thought is to turn them into slip rolls.

Has anyone here tried it before? My brain says it possible, but then my brain says a lot of things that don`t make any sense.

I like the thinking but don't they only have 2 rollers

The rollers may be wooden or covered with rubber.

You can adjust the pressure though.

How old is it? Perhaps it's worth restoring?

Just had a quick look, the rollers a wooden and knackered, and yes, it does only have 2. As for age, not a clue, i`ll go take a pic and report back.

just make it work,it doesn't have to be pretty just functional

No markings on it at all to hint to the manufacturer, and therefor no idea of age. It`s just been sitting in the garden as an ornament. So what do you think, bodge it into a heath robinson set of slip rolls, or restore?

It will have to be a pyramid set up the top roll forces the sheet into the two lower rolls hence thats how you form the arc. Beware my granny once got her t**'s caught in the mangle that used to be betweed the two Belfast sinks!!

I bet they really did look like a pairs of spaniels lugs after that

They were before that, it took the wrinkles out of her face when they were unleashed.

Be easy enough to add the third roller to it (braze or bolt adjustable bearing blocks to it) but looks like there'd be a fair bit of reworking needed to make one of the two existing rollers removable at one end to facilitate removal of the work when rolling cones/full circles
