been given these. Not expecting much from them given the name but was wondering, is there any difference between them apart from the one on the left is for wet cutting and one on the right is for dry?

Very similar to Aldis and many other brands, try them, if they dont cut too well try some water, if that dont improve, try a different blade, when you find the right combination of blade and material, it will cut effortlessly, right down to the metal disc after you`ve worn out the diamond edge. Excellent little blades for very little oulay and way better than the older abrasive equivelants. They tend to wear evenly and dont end up with flat spots bouncing the blade off the material like used to happen

cheers Stan. Can they both be used for chasing mortar and cutting breeze blocks? That's the only thing I can think I would use them for, maybe some slabs if needed.

wet ones are generaly used on tile cutting machines to keep cool

the wet one will soon burn out unless used with water as its a solid disk

The thin discs are unbelievable with a continuous trickle of water from a hose cutting ceramic tiles. Sand and cement mortar can be quite soft if it was mixed right, I have chaeated and had two discs back to back to cut out a chase. Breeze blocks will cut equally as easily but given the dust generated cutting a lot of them you may well consider some liquid to help the cut and keep the dust down. Same PPE gloves, mask, and goggles. I dont know why people think a "strong" mix of sand and cement is better than a weak mix. The 41/2 grinder is a lot more comfortable cutting than a 9" but depends what your cutting, I wouldnt cut a 2" paving flag with the little grinder unless I had nowt else available.

unless marked as wet, both are wet/dry cut, continuous edge gives a cleaner but slower cut

I bought some cheapo diamond discs, possibly rolson/blackspur years ago, thought they were the bees knees...until I tried a decent quality one.
Just like abrasives for metalwork, get what you pay for. Although, in this case, you will have great value!

Mortar raking blades tend to be thicker, about 6mm usually.

not really, most wet cut blades are segmented

these were given free by the old guy at the end of the road, he pops round every now and then with something like this. in return i clean his gutters and windows and jet wash his drive as and when it needs it.

not sure yet will give one a go later. I assume they wear better and are less prone to shattering mid cut. That said I've never had one go on me up til now

Motor raking mostly requires a different disc able to take the different sideways stresses that can be imparted in use. Never had a stone cutting wheel let go but a mate has and he now chucks them with great regularity, it can be quite nasty.
If in doubt ask for further info from the seller, if they are not sure they will know a man who does rather than get sued if wrong.
