Meddings power hacksaw query.

Hi all - I'm rebuilding a 1950's/60's power hacksaw. It's a W.J.Meddings Pacera made in Slough. Power is from a Brook Gryphon 1/2 hp, single phase motor and the thing works quite well. It needs a good clean, grease and some love. I'll probably repaint it too.
Thus far I have found out nothing about my saw. Meddings were [and are] best known for their quality bench and pillar drills but the only hacksaw I have found is their HS4 model which is bigger and more complicated than mine. I have trawled the internet and tried another couple of forums with no success. I tried Meddings too but they have no records of this saw.
Here's a photo and if anyone recognises it or has one, I would really appreciate seeing a photo or even better a copy of the original manual.

Thanks guys. I had intended to build a power saw and had looked at all sorts of home-made machines online when I came across this 'real' saw advertised so I couldn't let it go. I bought it 'working' and needing only some care. So far I have stripped the motor, replaced some wiring and the bearings. Frank, you have a point about the oily rag.

Just thought some of you might be interested to see what I did with the Meddings Pacera hacksaw above. When I had a good look at it I could see it had been repainted in the past so I decided to strip it back completely and repaint again albeit with a slight colour change. The old Gryphon motor needed a good clean and new bearings and attention to the wiring insulation and the centrifugal switch but it works fine now. The saw itself worked ok but years of old hard grease crud needed cleaning out and regreasing. The 'dog clutch' is quite worn and had been 'tipped' with weld in the past but a little filing and fettling of the spring has it engaging well again.

I'm still looking for info on this particular saw but with no success. Meddings produced the HS4 and the 8 back in the 50's/60's but they have no knowledge of this one. I was watching carefully for a model name or number when I was stripping it but nothing showed up.

I had intended to sell-on this saw but I'm pleased with how it turned out and will probably keep it. It's a lot easier than using a hand hacksaw!

nice job there . the only modification I would do is make a tray and bolt it to the side under the vice . stop all the swarf going all over specialy if you use rocol cutting compound or a bit of white water on material it does get messy even dry. you may find it will wander across the floor with wheels fitted as well . after thought make the tray quick removable for emptying

Took the words right out of my mouth re making up a tray. Originally there was a guard which fitted right across the front to stop swarf falling on the base and the motor - see the bolt holes. I have the guard for the back but not the front. The little wheels are only for occasional manoeuvring and the saw works fine sitting up on a couple of wood blocks. Thanks for the nice feedback.
