I'm thinking of dipping my toe into the air compressor waters for general light usage, and I've seen a basic Metabo compressor advertised for £170 before VAT (£204 inc. VAT). It's a 1.5kW 50L 230v jobbie, their 'Basic 270' model and has the following specs:
Sturdy, mobile piston compressor
Oil-lubricated piston condenser.
For single phase alternating current.
Pressure reducer with manometer for regulated working pressure.
Additional manometer for tank pressure.
Thermal motor protection.
Two brand quick-action couplings.
Pressure switch with start-up valve.
Plastic-coated tank and chassis.
Solid large wheels.
10 years tank warranty against rusting.
High alloyed piston rings for high loads.
Device tested according to German operational safety guidelines (ZUA).

Does this seem a reasonable deal, or are there better options? I've always regarded Metabo as one of the better makes, in general.
