Thanks Al, i was hoping to pickup something used but in GWO but they seem a bit thin on the ground.
Yes, they aren't super-common, but there's normally a handful floating about for a few hundred quid. I would expect to pay about 300-400 ish for a good quality but well used (not knackered) saw of that type (actually much better than the one pictured). I see them go for that money all the time.

yeah ive been searching for one for the last few months, second hand in reasonable condition arent easy to find. had a rush job come in which required lots of accurate mitre cuts so splashed out on a new Baileigh 315, seems like a nice bit of kit, nice and sturdy, good quality vice jaws so just have to see if it stands the test of time.

Not in the same league. Cold saws are more accurate, quieter and don't throw swarf everywhere. Mitre scales typically trustworthy and repeatable plus the use of coolant means they're happy enough munching their way through an endless diet of stainless or other hard alloys

As hotrodder said mate, they ain't in the same league, I bought a Evolution, I think they are crap !!!
It doesn't compare at all, but then they're different things. Cold saws are much more heavily built and usually three phase / not portable (typically weigh a couple of hundred kilos) - more suitable for serious fabrication shops etc. A Rage saw is more akin to an abrasive chop saw in terms of build quality / duty, although it cuts nicer than an abrasive.
One is an industrial tool, the other is not.

Don't really agree there, I use both types in the workshop and both earn money if used for the right application
The cold saw is so much slower than a dry carbide saw that if accuracy isn't an issue and your only cutting light stock - angle or tube or small diameter bar - then the carbide saw will earn me a lot more money for my time than the cold saw will....
On the other hand, if accuracy and repeatability are needed, the cold saw will save me a second operation....
