Metal shims wanted where can i get them or can i get them

This is the shim that's in there at the moment
And there's to much slack in there I'm ideally looking for 2 x 0.75 shims
Or 1x .5 and 1x1mm shim I think will do it

ive got penny washers but thats going to take off ..8 mm off to get the .5 shim thats a lot of work rather just buy one for a couple quid

thankyou for the offers guys i will keep that as a last resort

also the one thats in there at the moment is 1mm the total i want to put in there is 1.5 mm hence 2x 0.75 as i need one on the top and then one on the bottem and remove the 1mm

or add a 0.5 shim to make the total 1.5 split

its for a hedge trimmer that keeps throwing the gear mech so im hoping adding extra pressure top and bottem will stop this

I've be making that from 1.0mm thick steel sheet if I had some, its simple metal work, draw the circle with some dividers, drill the centre hole, file the outside to the scribed line. (one or two steps have been missed but thats the general idea).

1.5mm sounds like those nasty steel packing bands - tomorrow I can check what's closest to 1.5mm and send a collection around that measure fixed on paper with adhesive strips in a letter - that shouldn't have been affected by Brexit.

You can still drill holes, can you?!?!

thats now not a bad idea a mate is getting shot of a washing mechine id bet the panelson there are as thin as possable even if there .7 mm i can make the 2 so it has .7 at the top and .7 at the bottem

thanks for the offer but making one sounds easier now if i cant buy the right size and ebay has quite cheap shim stock if the washing mechine panels are not the right size

Here's what I've done on my lathe for thin shimming washers using old dishwasher flat stainless steel metal I'd cut some old dishwashers up into .. IIRC there were two thickness 0,7 on the pressed door and 0,5 mm on the pressed sides & back .

Screw a square of thin steel to a 3/4 " fine solid plywood backer that's fixed to your face plate , add two more screws to hold the to be parted out inner disc . If you want , also use really thin double sided sticky tape to really hold it flat to an aluminium backer plate about 4 mm thick also flat screwed & counter sunk to the ply wood backer . You can always face the ply to the face plate for greater accuracy then face the aluminium backer too ..

Work out how much metal you need to turn off for the shim thickness & turn it off . Find the centre lightly dot punch or 0.5 mm drill mark it . Scribe the circles and put your narrow pointed angled chisel edge cutting tool along the axis of the lathe then gently cut the inner first outwards to the inner edge ... sticky tape should easily hold the waste /left overs in place . Now do the outer edge gently working in from the outer edge to the outer to the line . Always checking you have not taken off too much before finally parting things out .
Another way is to carry out the first actions to make the inner precision hole , then turn up a two part bolt up lipped male & female mandrel to the exact outer washer size so you can hold the washer flat on mandrel by tightening the mandrel spindle bolt and turn off the outer edge waste .by cutting a cross the excess at about 45 degrees . Then wet & dry it using a double sided sticky tape on a flat stick to hold it on .. Don't be tempted to do bare fingered smoothing with wet & dry or any tiny burr will rip your fingers to bits in
milliseconds.
