MicorTIG - TIG Torch DINSE Gas Adapter Fouls Plug...

Love my MicorTIG to bits, as I'm sure I've said on a few occasions... all fine and dandy using the Lorch TIG torch I have as the gas supply is taken care of further down the torch umbilical - that torch is a 17 series torch.

I've got a Parweld 26 series torch so if I want to use that I could use a generic DINSE gas adapter BUT the issue is that the gas hose inlet to the adapter is fouled by the plug adjacent to it; I can only turn it a few degrees so the connection is far from ideal. I definitely sense that the HF ignition is far weaker. The adapter fouling the switch is down to the angle of the wee 'key' on the DINSE adapter and from what I can see most are the same position.

Can anyone suggest something that would work properly?

Only alternative I can see is the CK Safe-LOC but they're circa £40 plus VAT and delivery and I don't know whether it would work as although the gas port isn't at right angles to the adapter, there is a pronounced 'bump' on the side of them...

Lo and behold the brass DINSE socket can be rotated without even opening the case; there's a socket head bolt inside the socket - loosen that and the socket simply pops out!

That's handy too know was looking at a paraweld wp26 torch there as it was a bitty cheaper than another lorch one. Thanks for sharing @Tangledfeet.

There is (or maybe was) a chap there that quotes great prices for Parweld kit but last time I emailed them I got a reply from someone else and when I visited last year the welding section want as well manicured or stocked as it once was.

Aye, I got a 8m WP20 torch from Steve a few years back for just over £100.
I emailed him regarding a WP9 recently and it was Ali that replied, usually got decent deals from him as well when I went in and Steve wasn't there but he was looking for £140 incl VAT and I got one from Zoro for under £100, granted I had a 15% off code.
Ali said Steve, I think whilst on furlough, was helping out his sparky mate and decided he liked that better than working in the welding trade so is now doing that full time.

Oh I also got a WP20 from zoro just a few weeks back and it was £80 odd, again it was 8m and again it was with the discount code.

It is weird, just looked on Zoro and a 4m WP26 is about £100, the 8m rigid is 170 odd but the flexi is 160 odd. I think they just make the prices up to suit

What is a 4 button one? I thought 3 was the max on the Parwelds, On/Off, Up and Down.

Could have sworn the guys at HIS Inverness said it on/off secondary current and up and down now. But I'm usually wrong so who knows just trying too understand the massive price difference all of a sudden.

That's exactly what my Lorch two-button TIG torch does. No reason why the Parweld torch wouldn't do the same; I think @Hood said that his old Parweld AC/DC TIG had that function on AC and used that.

It is possible that it was 4 button but I thought 3 was the max they had but maybe not.
What the guy was possibly meaning was that if used with a parweld XTT200, and likely the newer model as well, you could use in 4T and if you tapped the on/off whilst welding it would drop to a lower current, tap again and it would go back to main. I loved that feature but sadly neither the Stealth or Sherman have it.

My Phoenix Mig has it and I use it all the time on that, it is great for aluminium and especially positional welding with the EWM.

Parweld do a 4 button specially for Lorch, iirc I saw it in their catalogue. Or was it Binzel? Maybe both.
Anyway there's nothing better than an OE Lorch torch, they aren't cheap but they're designed to last forever... Spec a 'a' torch updown will probably be around 200 quid, your wallet won't thank you but your fingers will.
I happened to find a cheap second hand one on ebay a while back as well as the powermaster water cooled one I already had.

Yes I do. It was a worry when I seen how compact the front panel is for fitting OEM torches
