I got a job lot of a hundred thin cutting disks for 15 quid, but they are 125 mm , my grinders are 115, not finding any cheap grinder guards on eBay I made my own, silver soldered out of 1.6 mm steel sheet off cut.

Cost, a rainy afternoon, and a bit of oxy propane.

Tidy... presumably the grinder runs at a speed within the rating of the discs...?

did you check the max disc speed first? Theyre not nice when they break up at speed. Guard looks good though

Nice been meaning to do this for a while.

And I've just looked at my 3 Makita's 4" (100mm) and 2 x 4.5" (115mm) grinders all are rated @ 1100. And a 4.5" 1mm Disc is 13300, so plenty of over head

10mm bigger thats only 5mm each side its hardly going to make much diffrence in speed.and will be well in speed limit

When i bought 2 Makita grinders really cheap, I modded the guards from 41/2" to 5" by just cutting off the guard at the rim, spaced it out a little and re welded back on.Filling the small gap with weld.
