mig welder auto dark on/off switch

i've had a auto darlening masks for a fews now and the one i have now i'm not too sure if the cell is worn as i can see the welding but not clearly so i bought one of them ones off ebay that has replaceable cells and an on/off switch and it appears to be ****. ihaven't used it yet as my welder is away but the battery is as loose as anything so when i hold the lens down and push the test button it kinda flickers(don't know if it is meant to stay on until released) but if i move the lens up it doesn't work.i tried wedging a little bit of cardboard to stop it moving but then it won't work at all and am concerned it might no work properly while i'm welding. has anyone else bought one of these and how did ya get on with it?

If you want to test an auto helmet then pointing and pressing a button on a tv remote at the sensors should make it darken until you release the remote button.

A florescent light will activate them too.

thanks for the replies guys. don't have a florescent light but trird the controller and it works i just wish the battery wasn't soo loose in it.

Try a dab of hot glue or black tack (it's like blue tack but stronger).

it's a weird one as the test light works when thebattery is lose but not when it is secured
