Mig Welding Mask

I am using a welding mask with a no 11 lens, I used this for Arc welding without any problem, I am now using a mig but find that I have sore eyes when finished welding ,like you get when you get a flash from the welder, is it possible that the mask is not darkening quick enough after I start welding.
Its a SWP mask with a fixed shade 11?

A fixed shade should be dark all the time, so not darkening quickly enough is not likely to be the problem.
Maybe it's just not quite dark enough.

11 is a bit dark for mig on lower amps. You can't get flash through a lens even if it stays on it's lightest shade so it sounds like you are straining your eyes.

Less smoke from MIG than stick so perhaps the reflected glare from the arc may be causing the problem?
