mig welding project witha a van door

heya guys got a nice little project to do my dads van soon, the right hand door is knackered on the bottom so what im thinking is to cut all the crap metal off then just weld in a complete new plate

Consider making some sheet metal clamps. Makes lining up the two edges of the existing and the new panels ever so easy. You need access on the back to remove the pin on the ones I made, just scrap stuff, but one of the indispensable tools you end up not been able to do without.
spend time on scrupulous preparation,removing paint and internal rust protection.
