Mig Wire Spool Sizes?

Hi,

I currently have a 0.7kg wire spool in my sip migmate 170 welder, do the 5kg spools have the same internal hole size - i.e. can I just swap this for a 5kg spool ?

The 5kg have a 2" hole. There should be adapters that came with the MIG.

Thanks for the reply. The mig was bought 2nd hand, no adapter was present - so I assume I can buy one ?

Make sure a 200mm od spool will fit and then are you sure the SIP has the strength to pull it through. SIPs are notoriously poor at feeding.

I have seen them online for 20 some bucks. I built my own from some 2" black pipe and a few bits from the junk box...Bob

Bob, he wants adapters to put a large reel on the small spindle, not the other way around.

Thanks for the ideas. I guess I can make something up to increase the diameter to 2" - maybe using the old spool itself.

Yes, some have take an old spool and cut it down to 2".
