i was at an auction the other day hoping to buy a gen set but the couple I was after we're too expensive. It wasn't a wasted day though.
Had an impulse bid on a petrol welder not having a clue what it was and if it worked!

Turns out it works well!
Two stroke 372cc makes a racket and a half, but it started easily , struck an arc with 6013 3.2 rod and melted its way through 3 mm plate with ease.

Came with long cables although the rod clamp is wooden!

I had a search on here and see some owners making good use of their mighty midgets.
What voltage can I expect from that round pin socket?

Thus one has a max output of 250amps.

That round pin socket looks like a 15A mains socket that was in common use before the current 13A system became universal. You can still get plugs to fit, CPC do them for one.

As to the voltage the only sure way to find out is with a multimeter, start on the highest AC range and work down.

Hi Hugh, would it not be AC? What uses 110v of DC? Genuine question as I electricity is a black art to me.

The mighty midget makes AC for welding at 475Hz. If you put that frequency AC into a power tool it will go nuts. Converting it to DC means it will run anything with a brush motor at regular speed. Grinders, lights, quiver etc...

Provided they DO NOT have a variable speed trigger, yes...
