During a tidy up, I found a Record 6" vice at the cowshed. it had been outside for a while, was missing a jaw plate thingie and had been brazed up at some stage. I knocked the worse of the rust off it with wire brush, gave it a coat of Dulux Tractor Blue (Since I had some left) then found the movable jaw wasn't square with the fixed jaw so it was tilted around 1.5mm and angled around 1mm end to end. I put it in the 100year old flat belt Debiegh mill with a side and face cutter and a couple of cuts both sides were parallel. I made some new jaws from 20*10 flat ild steel, although I need to redo them as I was rushing and they aren't the same length.
I don't actually need another vice, but it seemed a shame to scrap it, so it is sitting in the shalf at present just in case.
