Could you write me a list of everything I need to buy for that thankswhen I first got my hobbymat lathe , and came with a drill vice as standard for doing milling with, and shown next to a 3" clarke drill vice (which gets used on a drill and not my milling machine.

the plate that holds the moving jaw down is too thin and will bend, I replaced my with some 6mm thick steel bar.

you'll be fine if you take light cuts and dont expect it to be too accurate you'll be fine, as they arn't made to any tolerance. I couldnt find a vice that I liked so ended up making my own
Small Milling Vice
Finally got round to making a new milling vice. I'd been after a small vice for ages but none of the smaller ones really appealed to me, so I decided to make my own. as my milling machine is tiny compared to most on here, I wanted something between the quality of a drill vice and a "proper"...www.mig-welding.co.uk
to modify a clarke vice or to make your own vice?Could you write me a list of everything I need to buy for that thanks
Make my ownto modify a clarke vice or to make your own vice?
Something around 4” wide it’s for a Clark cmd300 so can’t be too bigthat depends on what size of vice you want, I wanted one that was low height and could me mounted in my T slots either way.
Had a look at it was just what you used for the jaws I wasn’t shure onthe T slots on my milling machine are 50mm centres, so they dictated the size of the vice.
the base is 120mm x 200mm x 15mm
the jaws are 80mm long and 23mm high, the fixed jaw is 28mm wide and the moving jaw is 50mm wide.
the bolt that operates it is M12 x 160mm
and a few M6 cap head bolts and dowels.
you could have had a guess from the thread that I linked to earlier
