mini regulator/water trap question

ok on my on board air system i have a small regulator for the air supply to the air horn and it can also be used for other things but there is a small hole that releases the air pressure when u turn the reg down. Any way this lets air out of the whole system over night to a point the air pressure in the receiver drops to whatever the reg is set at. is this normal? I cant see it being normal my workshop compressors dont do this.

My compressors air press reg/air filter drain is open on start up & then closes as the pressure rises. Apparently described as a semi automatic drain function.

I've got a new (to me) meat mixing machine, the combined regulator/filter/water trap leaks 24/7... I assumed it was normal to let the water out?

No mine don't they open up and drain when the pressure has gone from the system

I am not talking about the auto drain leaking it is the hole in the side that lets the pressure out when u turn the regulator down

^ I'd guess pressure is somehow leaking past the regulator and then the regulator is letting the pressure out (thinking it's over pressurised on the low pressure side)

how far do you have to turn it up to stop it?

if the reg is set to 90psi the whole system will drain down to 90psi over night! grrrrrr
