Minnowfish Carburettors, The Argyll Car - Workshop tour

I had a Tour round the old Minnowfish works in Lochgilphead today, here Bob Henderson built the Argyll Car, Minnowfish Carbs and did tuning on his dyno's:

The machines will all be getting cleared out I will do a separate post to cover.

They gave me the master for the Trident Racing Cams they made for Triumph in 1976:

I bought some barstock and a rusty but still free moving rotary table for restoration:

Ahh, the old minnowfish carbs - that often required a heating element grid, across the inlet, to prevent them icing up.

Interesting stuff, and the photo's make me feel a whole lot better about the 'mess' my workshop's in at the minute.

Not sure about that, he led a full and interesting life right into his 90's, not many of us can claim to have designed and built our own twin turbo car, especially in the 70's /early 80's never mind his adventures doing rallies in his Jaguar XK from the 50's all over the world. He was last in his workshop late last year.

I'd be quite happy to go out having a workshop that had seen so much action. Although I'd like to do so leaving it a bit tidier than that, and with clean underpants obviously.

Most dynos are old, one of my dpx2s is waiting to go onto the test bed in series with the other one, but right now its under my feet.

No, it was just for interest really.

There was quite a nice Super 7 with the first time I have seen in the flesh a Tripan tool holder, looks really nice:

I use the same Tripan 111 on my Super 7 - They are top quality, after using the Tripan the alternative Myford / Dickson system seems like cheap tat.
