Modular stacking systems

Half contemplating a tool management stacking modular system. Has anyone got one that they are happy with and got any pics of how power tools fit? They are very pricy so I want personal recommendations of what might work and what system is crap.

Not a fan of systainers couple of years and the plastic gets brittle and they become prone to breaking especially in the cold

My DeWalt systems are holding up well.
Both tstack and Tough system.

Drawer units. Organisers. Trolleys and dollies all available.

If you want to secure your tools in the boxes your going to have to buy/cut foam to suit.

Just looked at what you meant ‘systainers’ and yes that’s not for me as it’s flimsy. More like camera equipment or other office stuff so possibly Milwaukee or similar. Just don’t know yet

I use Eurocrates - they all stack, are a fraction of the cost of branded ones and you can add foam to those for tools etc and dividers for parts etc and you can get lids / dollies etc. Solent Plastics were the cheapest I could find.

They are convinient, and they don't scream "Come and steal me" as the branded ones do.

I think the DeWalt ones looks to be the toughest.
I have both Makita and Bosch branded ones.
Makita is, for me, the cheapest of the branded but their inserts cost more than from others. Bosch tools often comes with the dedicated inserts even if you buy without box. Makita doesn't and they are about 10£ each for the inserts.
I can shoot some photos later if you are interested, have both with and without inserts to give an idea.

I wouldn't buy the inserts separately, don't think they are worth it except for the laser or other sensitive tools.

I made foam inserts for my laser level.
Everything else is loose.

i use auer boxes they are very good,

I also use magnusson from screwfix which are better than my auer which makes them better than dewalt tstack as thats what my auer replaced


eurocrates have a place mostly for rarely used tools, but my magnusson boxes all stack ontop of the bottom box which has a handle a wheels

Iv got eurocrates there great for stacking but they don’t like a lot of weight as my car tools with three high the lower starts to flex

it’s all things I rarely use the rest is in two main boxes and my roll cab at home

That's interesting, in so far as I sort of thought of a lot of magnusson stuff having that "made in a hurry" feel about them.

I've got a vernier caliper of theirs that seems so sharp all around that it ususally manages to injure you somehow!
And a couple of other smallish items that you end up re-buying when you're away from your main tool-stash, and forgot to bring along with you.

But, I'll still be having a look at those crates!

This is my track saw, the only Makita tool I've bought complete with box and insert. Stuffed it with spares for the tracks, angle guide and some other stuff. There's room for spare blades at the bottom.

Bought two separate boxes but there were inserts in them that actually fitted two screwdrivers, one impact driver, charger batteries, drills, bits and more.

Looks like chaos but there are two Sanders, one "Dremel" Mirkka papers of various grit , hose and adapters for the vacuum.

Two jigsaws, multitool, boxes with spare blades and some 5ool in the lid

The moulded boxes are the most durable but less versatile. Won't fit any of the Makpac's anyway.

Entering the German section, "Ordnung muss sein" Didn't really need the box but they sold the whole kit cheaper than I could buy separate. Not so flexible as the Makitas. Could only get a small snip in extra but of course smaller than the Makita boxes.

Laser box, ordnung...

This is what I mentioned before. Tool in cardboard but inserts included. I think the battery section is common to all their cordless tools. Seems to be pockets for both 12 and 28V batteries.

Just to prove non OCD, I have simple boxes too...

Similar to the eurocrate, good to just throw down what you need at the moment.

Kind of modular and you dont have to stack/unstack to get at them ,I built some big pigeon holes for tool/storage boxes and that has been really useful. Things like rivets and all the associated tools like the correct size drills, a cordless, rivet guns etc are all in one box, if I need to put in a rivet I just grab the box and know its all going to be in there rather than rounding up all the gear. Have done the same with lots of other tools like the one for welding which has the goggles,tips, tip cleaners, cutting head, bottle key and gloves. Works well.

I have a few of the Bosch L Boxx cases they are ok but wouldn't stand up to daily site use.
I one day I will get around to building some MDF boxes for the rest of my bits, to the same base dimensions in differing heights as I have a few sortimo boxes to the same dimensions as the L Boxx.

I use the same method as you bob, I group together specific repair kits and just store it on steel racking at home. When I have a job to sort in the morning out come the lot needed already to just ‘plug n play’. I have one specific to spray painting and prepping, same for domestic electrical work, metal working kit, plastering ready to go kit and so on.

Just got this one, I chose it as I was fed up digging everything out of a normal toolbox to find something at the bottom so wanted something I could organise and find tools easily and quickly and also something on wheels. It can break down and used as individual units or you can only stack the modules you want to take with you if needed and I can quickly break it into two halves to easily load/unload etc. Seems to be well made and looks durable but time will tell on that, my only gripe is that initially I think I would have liked it to be slightly wider and deeper but then that would also increase its weight and portability.

So your system of such a variation of tools is close to mine and although I don't need everything stored to hand I bought some of these off Ebay for 'handy' money. I will be putting just foam in with tool cut outs . Theres three cases I bought but currently only need two to replace what Ive got that's clapped out so Ive a spare third which Im thinking about 'what do I mostly use on site as a handyman?'

I wouldn't say I bought these for the strength as they are not the strongest but just to be organised and thats currently fitting my need.

First box done! Took a bit of messing around and I know we all do a bit of therapeutic work that takes longer than you expected but what the hell!

The price of foam was a shock as it costs more than the boxes!! So just used 8foot sheet of wickes polystyrene instead 25mm base then 50mm upper.

By far the best available. I have 2 rolling boxes and 2 shallow cases

That's all my hand tools test kit and Cordless tools 2 trips to empty the van perfect.
