Möbius Strip

This one took a bit of head scratching. The photos are rubbish, sorry. I was in a rush and I've given it away now.

It's made from sheet and is about a foot long.

Well done there.
I have tried and failed at this one and know a few other folk who have tried and given up.
The problem seems to be chasing the twist along the oworkpiece and ending up losing it.
Damned fine in fact.

Thanks very much. I cheated by using thin sheet. Two long strips to make the top/bottom and bottom/top figure of 8s then just spaced them out with little spacers. Spokes if you like. Sides simply plated over. Hardest bit was working in the crossover area. All hand filed here as no room for the grinder. May have a bigger attempt when my plasma arrives!!!

friend of mine carvs these in wood... even managed one by cnc... but not a classic Mobius as software kept crashing... must have a llo at why one day

Very nice work. Just to be pedantic though, surely a true mobius strip has only one side, every if it's three dimensional? Not that that has anything to do with your sculpture, it's just curiosity!

Mobius is a 3d object with 1 side and 1 edge....

That's what I meant, a mobius should have a twist so that it has one continuous face.

Yea, it's a cheat. Two faces and two sides. A true, single faced one would be really cool

This is something i've been thinking about doing using 50mm flat then cut it with the grinder to show what happens when its cut along its length

The pedants win!
It is not a mobius strip it is an infinity symbol.
There are two surfaces in the horizontal plane.
You might as well send it to me.
Still a nice piece of work though.
