A lady was after something for her husband's 50th birthday. She liked m,y wall climbers and wanted something like that.
I asked for a bit of clarification, she thought for a moment and asked if I coul;d make a large scale version of the kids game played with plastic monkeys that hang onto each others feet.
Brilliant idea! she thought I was joking but what a great idea, something for the adult males to play with in the garden.
Her teenager suggested one based on each family member, even better. Then suggested that they live in a metal tree and be called the family Tree.
Amazing, a teenager that communicates.
Here are the first batch of monkeys hanging about.
Looking quite promising. I decided to get them galvanized, after a week or so the galvanizers decided it was worth their while. Ptchaah! Ok there were twenty of them. thye did the tree though.
Luckily I found a local guy who zinc plated them for a couple of quid each which seems reasonable.
The family ones are two of dad, one playing his sax, one bowler hat and walking stick, mum with massive handbag and junior with his teapot. Somehow they must be nice family.
A lovely idea that I will have to repeat for my open studios event.
Yet again a customer has a great idea that would never have crossed my tiny mind.
