More Microsoft shenanigans

Microsoft seem bent on making earlier version of Windows unusable.

My Outlook 2013 has stopped displaying images, and the option to alter this has been removed (from July I believe).
Now they've disabled the opening of hyperlinks.

Does anyone here still use Office 2013, and has Outlook still functioning normally?

If so, would you mind copying a registry key for me and mailing it to me?

The one in question is - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\htmlfile\shell\open\command

I still use Outlook 2007. and have the same with that.

New Outlook has been forced on us at work, it's horrendous.

Can't save an email as a .msg file, only option is print to pdf. Downloading attachments is a multi step process and all my rules and auto sorting had to be deleted and start again

I use 2019 on my own laptop, no issues yet

I've used Microsoft since Noah was a lad. They're very close to losing me now.

Thanks James, that's sorted it. Now to find a work-around for images not displaying and Excel hyperlinks not opening mail correctly

They've removed an option to download images as of July. All that I see is a load of blank boxes.

i still use both office and outlook 2008 i think and 2013

but i use them on offline machines as it stops the phone home

when needed i just transfer the saved file to an online pc

I have Excel, Word and Project currently open, since about 0730. I also have a terminal open to my hardware firewall. Since 0730 there hasn't been anything sent to Microsoft other than the usual Monday Windows update

I would love to know what the phoning home consists of

mostley all programs phone home

you can either block them from doing so or you go offline with those programs to stop them updating

you spout often that systems dont so ....

I'm not spouting anything, I use a lot of Microsoft products and other than updates I have no record of any "phoning home" I do take care to decline everything possible on a new install.

I have just checked, I have around 15 years of hardware firewall logs, nothing in them resembles what is in the videos. The first one doesn't even seem to understand the tool he is using to make his point

If I open in "safe mode" all is fine, I just don't get a preview pane. I spent some time disabling add-ins and other extraneous bits that they've thrown into the mix, but still no joy in normal mode. I phone a friend, he's a bit of a MS guru. He has tge same problem using Office on his Macbook.

He's going bowling with some MS bods tonight, so is going to try to pick their brains.
