More vices!

Seem to be the in thing on here!

I was given this trio by someone who was clearing their old garage and was chucking them out. They were all rusted solid but stripped them all down, cleaned and painted them. I mixed two blues until I came up with the right shade (sad I know!). The no23 needs new jaws as the old ones were worn from use, the other two are hardly used. I'm rather pleased with the results. (I need to clean the paint off some parts still but you get the general idea!)

Nicely done you've got that blue paint spot on. Do you have a before photo? There won't be much room to work at the bench with those 3 bad boys bolted to it!

You jammy b*gger. You got a right old haul there, and for nowt too. Not jealous much. Honest. You've made a tidy job of fettling those. There's nowt sad about mixing colours either. Btw, if you need to scrape a bit of paint overflow off, the edge of a copper coin or a flattened end of copper tube work well for that. Won't damage the metal but scrapes the paint off lovely.

Sorry I didn't think to take any before photos, I painted last week, didn't realise there was much interest in old vices until I looked on here during an idle moment.

The blue I just mixed until I got it right, I was given the 23 first and had loads of paint left over, then I was given the other two the week later. I've still got some left and might give a couple of my old record G clamps a once over!

I also have a Record "1 ton" on a swivel base, with a small anvil section on the rear, it's about the same size as a Record no2, just wandered what the difference was?

I believe, (could be wrong though), that those with the tonnage printed on them are the Irwin stuff. The ones which seem to be more angular in design?

There's always at least one sad git like that on any subject, ain't there. Honestly, some of these folk....
