Hi all,
Not sure quite where this belongs, if it belongs at all as it didn't involve any welding! But to mark a rather surprising milestone (1000 posts!) I thought I’d write about some of what I’ve been up to for the last couple of days.
I was reading the thread on Workshop Ventilation recently and it got me thinking. I’ve also had a sort of ventilation issue myself, though more an extraction issue really.
I have a 500mm extractor fan in the wall of my ‘shed’

But to run it I have to open the shed door otherwise the fan just stalls and not a lot of air goes anywhere!
Sooo, I decided to do something about it! And no, I didn’t pull the fuse
I wanted some way of getting fresh air in but without letting all the nice warm air out (electricity bills are still a bit of a concern ) when it’s not running. So I cut a couple of holes in the end wall and fitted a couple of 200mm louvre vents on the inside:

and 4 grilles on the outside:

(There is a 100mm cavity between inside and out)

Net result is that I can now run the fan without having to open the door:

And the incoming air generally replaces the smokey fumey stuff that gathers up in the roof space!
