Hi,

Just a quick hi as I join today, not a lot to say other than I have an old Arc welder and two telescope piers to make(they normally cost £450 to buy each), should be fun.

I have my mild steel irrigation tube and I'm getting my mild steel plate to work on and bingo I should save loads. That is assuming I can remember how to weld :-)

Quick question, does anyone know a metal supplier in West Sussex, for mild steel and box tube?

Oh I also have a Disco 1 so I'm sure at some time it will need some work as well.

if you have a disco you will need a MIG welder not an arc body rot is main point on discos have fun welcome to the mad house

Thanks all, I got an ARC a few years ago because I had to weld some pretty thick metal together for a base, it was 10mm+ thick and it seemed to work ok with this.

I'm lucky at the moment my Disco does not need any welding because it has little rust, virtually none. But I will probably get a MIG, wondered if there are any recommendations, I hear on one of the land rover forums that a Wolf 140 is pretty good.

Most of the stuff I'm intending to do will be any repairs to the Land Rover if and when needed and welding irrigation tubed 5mm thick to plate bases, 10mm thick.

Any advice would be good, I'll go and have a look around the forum this morning to see if there are any recommendations.

I hear on one of the land rover forums that a Wolf 140 is pretty good.

Try a search on here for Wolf welders and you'll get a different answer
