motor polarity

Just done a bit of re-wiring on the motor on my compressor,After refitting i noticed its now running the opposite way to before,so question is,does it really matter,or do i need to reverse the wires?

Piston or screw compressor?

It really should run in the direction it's designed to. Look on the flywheel for an arrow. If it runs the wrong way there is a risk it would not be properly lubricated.

also look at the cooling fan blades built in to the pulley it should draw the air in and across the pump for cooling if its running in the right direction

Must be a reversable motor, you must have reversed the direction with your rewire !
