Motorised Mill Z Axis

Well finally almost finished adding motor to my mill Z axis, apart from melting the warning light when soldering wires on ( note to self don’t use gas soldering iron ), very happy that I don’t need to stretch around back to alter Z axis, having a dodgy shoulder it was a pain literally, being new to this mill lark I made a few newby mistakes like I needed to cut holes for motor to mount size 35mm so moved X axis over 17.5mm but forgot to deduct 1/2 the endmill size hence hole to big so shim needed, but overall very happy.

ohh you have the posh version

I went for the economy version with my hobbymat, I just use a drill driver, on the driver setting, even that makes a massive difference to using the standard handwheel

That’s a good idea Optima 21 as long as you can find the drill when you need it.

Great conversion, it is a PITA reaching up to raise the head. I was thinking of doing that to my old mill, but bought the Centec instead.
