Moving a 10x12 shed on your own

I picked this technique from The REME handbook for recovering vehicles.

I used 2 stakes, as the shed only weighed around a ton. Where as the handbook suggests you use 3 stakes in line, 90degree the the pull about a 1 meter apart, set at 10-15degrees to the ground. A rope/chain is then placed from the top of the first stake to the bottom of the next and so on.

Just a couple of pics, the shed was moved 4meters, in less than an hour.

but do work well as you have found out

I used long log rollers last time, quick and easy, but I like this method.

Luckily I had some thin sheet approx 200mm x 3m, jacked the shed up and sat the sheet under the skids.

This works a lot better than a true ground anchor, ie the one that looks ships anchor, as they tend to pull out, or turn into a plough, they are also bulky and heavy. Where as 3 scaffold poles in the back of the landy take no space up, and far quicker than digging a hole, in possibly stoney ground

and nowadays REME would have brought in a 6x6 wrecker done a full hse work up method decided shed needed demolishing not safe to move on hse grounds flattened shed and left you with a bill for doing it

I just moved my shed t'other side of the garden. wasn't as big as yours but had to do it meself.

I got two pieces of 2x2 lengths of wood,screwed castors to the 2x2 and L brackets,lifted shed one side and screwed the 2x2 via the brackets to the bottom of the shed and done the same t'other side and pushed it across the garden.

I was a REME Recovery Mechanic years ago and it was a bloody marvellous job! Up to your ears in swamps putting chains on vehicles, charging around in big trucks and playing with explosives........

I used scaffold poles to roll it across the ground. Took 20 mins.

You should know better, technically that's the "house" shed. I have mine own. Plus the workshop of course
