Have moved a few bits of machinery over the last few years and think I am geting the hang of it. Latest challenge was to get the brother in laws Mill and Lathe out of my garage and moved to his house and placed on the slab of the workshop he is building.
He has a Colchester Student and copy of a Bridgeport Mill sat in my garage for a few weeks. We collected them from a local Engineering training place a few weeks back and TBH he had a real bargain on both of them, I even offered him serious money for the mill as in 5x what he paid for it as it is a real beauty
Anyway, back on topic, the move. I usually hire an Ivor Williams flat bed trailer to shift heavy stuff but had a chat with the local builders merchant and they were happy to shift the gear with their delivery lorry
These are a few shots of it all getting dropped off
These are some machine skates I made when when I had to collect my Harrison, they are 3/4" ply with 4" x 2" in between, screwed, glued and bolted with some heavy duty castors from MachineMart
Makes moving 850kgs of lathe really easy
