planning on moving to australia from the uk, joined the forum to get some advice from ppl who have welded over in Oz..I am coded in stick and mig flux core process, both 4G. I am a year out my time and don't know wather I should pay to get my 6G coding before I go.

I have no personal experience of welding in oz. But there are so many different codes avalible even in the 6g as you have alot of different standards. you might be paying for a code which is unusable, if you want the serious money you need to go to the deserts and mines I know of people on 80 quid an hour after tax for welding, but its no life style with the extreme heat, they have to wear water cooled suits, If youve selected an area to live in I would send of a few emails to the type of companys you want to work for explaining your situation ask for jobs ect, even if its not coded jobs it gets your foot in the door and you can build up your knowledge of the australian industry,
