My first manifold

After a lot of practice I decided to bite the bullet and get on with my first attempt at a manifold. Its for a 2.0 Duratec lump. Think I need a bigger lens and a bit less heat though as I struggled to get the nice straw coloured welds........not too bad for a first timer....
1-3/4" 304 SS 1.5mm wall, with 308L 1mm filler. Was using a No7 cup, with gas lens, flowing about 5-6LPM, with 2-3LPM back purge.

just got to finish off at the flange and a bit around the 4-1 merge, happy days

Looks good to me. Coming together well.
I'm no expert and have very little experience so far but on pipe it may be worth turning the flow up a little as there is no flat sheet to "bounce" the gas back off. A pipe welder friend of mine has 9/10 LPM IIRC.

this was my "practice" piece of the system. as you may know they aint cheep, so had a bash at fabbing one from scratch, what a nightmare with basic garage tools. anyway, got this far before a second hand bargain popped up on the web. was'nt even worth the purging gas to weld the original up.

nice job there its dificult to make and set them up from scratch. i did one in mild steel and gas welded it up . as u say some things arent worth making .
