I bought two cast iron dachsund bootscrapers from a garden centre. The bottom plate is 5mm thick - I want the door stops to be a reasonable weight. I haven't yet decided on a handle for the top, but I am thinking maybe something with a scroll each side of the twisted section, and a curved piece across the top to hold onto.
The upright is 12mm square bar, and the vertical piece welded to the base plate is square tube, so I can slide the solid bar up until I get the right height before I weld that. I am deciding between JB-Weld and proper weld to attach the dog's paws to the base plate. It will be then painted black.
The dog is cast in two pieces and I am filling the joints with car filler before I paint it.
